Founded in 1989, Edward Adventures was the first company in China’s Yunnan Province to offer adventurous travel for Westerners in this exciting and yet little-known part of the world. It has provided motor travel, camping, trekking and mountaineering holidays for tour companies and individuals from all over Europe and the States with its expertise. The company is based in the relaxed and attractive ancient town of Dali, traditional home of the Bai ethnic minority in Yunnan Province.

Yunnan (South of the Clouds) is the most varied of all China's provinces, its terrain ranging from tropical rain forests to the icy Tibetan highlands, although generally its climate is mild. It has an enormous range of flora and fauna, most of which are protected by governmental and local ecological organizations. Yunnan is also home to half of China's colourful ethnic minorities. Bordered by Myanmar on the west and Laos and Vietnam in the south, the region stretches up to the Tibetan tableland in the north. Due to its historically remote frontier position and rich ethnic mixture, Yunnan has its own attractive and relaxed identity, attracting visitors from home and abroad.

As most of our guides, who all speak English and Chinese fluently, are from local ethnic groups, we have strong connections with the ethnic tribes throughout the region and specialize in taking visitors to their colourful festivals and the ceremonies of the various Buddhist sects in the monasteries on Tibetan plateaus.
